Plymouth's free corporate responsibility programme. Making Plymouth a better place to live, work and do business.
PBT Goes Public

Over 50 businesses from across Plymouth's travel-to-work area have already pledged to take action to improve the City following the launch of a new programme.

Plymouth Better Together has been launched through a partnership between Plymouth Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Plymouth 2020 LSP Partnership and Business in the Community  It  offers businesses a way of getting involved in locally important issues and provides practical help.  It's free to join and promises to make a huge difference to those living, working and running businesses in the City.

Through the programme, a menu of 83 pledges offers a broad choice of activities to suit all sizes and types of business.  Businesses pick pledges to create a Charter for their company or department, and the Better Together Co-ordinator provides them with contact details of organisations that can offer advice, support or opportunities to help.

Some of the activities are common in many businesses.  Half the businesses signed up so far have made pledges that include recycling and organising staff reviews and training.  Pledges can be for activities that the business is already committed to and for new ones.

Anna Kennedy, Plymouth Better Together Co-ordinator was delighted at the response for the launch "Members from all 3 partners have already committed to take action on over 90% of the activities.  Even knowing which pledges are the most popular will be very useful in identifying how the public sector and support organisations can make more of the energy and enthusiasm in the business sector.  This promises to be a very useful programme for the businesses and organisations involved and for the residents of Plymouth."

At the Chamber's Crunchy Breakfast on August 6th, Plymouth Better Together co-ordinator Anna Kennedy will be discussing how businesses can ensure that their activities are aimed towards issues that are a priority for Plymouth.
