City football festival sponsored by Connaught
More than 400 youngsters from all across Plymouth enjoyed the second Tamarside Festival of Football, sponsored by Plymouth Better Together Charter Holder Connaught last month. Over a thousand spectators and 40 teams of under-10s took part in the festival, now in its eighth year at Tamarside Community College in St Budeaux.
Jacky Ryan, customer experience manager at Connaught Partnerships, said: “Everything we do at Connaught Partnerships has the community at its heart so we’re delighted to be sponsoring the football festival for a second year running. It’s a fantastic event that is growing in popularity every year.”
Tamarside sports manager Darren Stewart, festival organiser, said: “We originally held the event as a one-off to celebrate the 10th birthday of Tamarside Football Club. That was eight years ago and it’s gone from strength to strength ever since.”
Connaught’s sponsorship includes providing the three main trophies in the under eight, nine and 10-year-old categories, and Plymouth Community Homes provided team trophies. Everyone taking part had a medal to take home as a memento of their day, kindly provided by local contractor, Rogers Group.
Connaught Partnerships, which provides housing maintenance, compliance and estate services to local authorities and registered social landlords, is working in the St Budeaux area as part of a £18.75 million bathroom and kitchen refurbishment contract for Plymouth Community Homes. The football festival is all part of the Connaught Corporate Responsibility programme with Better Together and contributes to the company’s commitment to inspiring young people in Plymouth.
